The Swirl Flames Data Repository
OH* Chemiluminescence
OH* chemiluminescence images presented in this repository are presented to give an indication of locations of heat release in each flame. A Photron SA1.1 monochrome high speed CMOS camera fitted with an IRO intensifier and 270-370 nm high transmission UV filter was used to collect each set of OH* chemuliminescence images. Results were captured at 5 kHz and between 1000 and 5000 images were used to produce the averages presented here. A schematic of the experimental set up is given below.
An Inverse Abel Transform was applied to the time-averaged mean OH* chemiluminescence images in order to reconstruct the local heat release from the line-of-sight measurement. In applying this technique, each mean OH* chemiluminescence image was assumed to be axisymmetric.
