Mie scattering
Mie scattering from fuel spray droplets was measured with an incident 532 nm laser beam split into a 50 mm tall sheet and a Photron SA1.1 CMOS camera fitted with a 105 mm lens and a 527-537 nm bandpass filter. Note that some of the Mie scattering measurements presented here were collected independently and some were collected simultaneously with fast OH-PLIF, as indicated in the schematic below. The scattering and collection technique was similar in both the independent and simultaneous Mie scattering measurements.

Simultaneous average Mie scattering images were calculated with a sequence of 1000 images while simultaneous Mie scattering images (presented with OH-PLIF images) were averaged with 5000 images.
